Isaacs Brown Bread

600 gr Brown Wholemeal flour.

600 gr Plain white flour

2Tsp. Salt

2Tsp. Bicarbonate of Soda (Bread soda) sieved

850ml.approx, Sour Milk or Butter milk.


Sieve the dry ingredients, make a well in the centre, pour in the milk, when it comes together turn out onto a well floured work surface.Tidy it up and pat the dough into a round  about four cm. Deep. Cut a deep cross in the loaf and

Heat Oven to 230 degrees, put loaf in 15 to 20 Mins. Then reduce heat to 200 Degrees and cook for 20 to 25 mins.

Bread is cooked when its sounds hollow when tapped. Cool on wire rack

Serve with Finely sliced Irish Smoked salmon ,

Lemon Wedge and a glass of Irish Stout.
